NeumaticOut: un proyecto de la UAH investiga los neumáticos abandonados en zonas del litoral de la Red Natura para reducir su impacto medioambiental

Este proyecto de investigación de la Universidad de Alcalá busca analizar la situación actual de los neumáticos abandonados en varios puntos del litoral español, en concreto, en zonas protegidas de la Red Natura 2000, para reducir su impacto medioambiental, pues están dañando significativamente sus ecosistemas. El proyecto incluía la retirada de los neumáticos fuera de uso en dos zonas protegidas de La Gomera y Ceuta, gracias a la colaboración de pescadores y voluntarios. Así mismo, los investigadores han realizado un estudio para reciclar y reutilizar estos residuos en otros productos para materiales de construcción, como morteros o escayolas. Entre otros resultados, el proyecto NeumaticOut ha permitido identificar más de 60 sitios de la Red Natura que tienen este tipo de desechos.

This research project of the University of Alcalá seeks to analyse the current situation of the abandoned tires in various parts of the Spanish coast, specifically, in protected areas of the Natura 2000 Network, to reduce their environmental impact, because they are significantly damaging their ecosystems. The project included the removal of end-of-life tires in two protected areas of La Gomera and Ceuta, thanks to the collaboration of fishermen and volunteers. Likewise, the researchers have carried out a study to recycle and reuse this waste in other products for construction materials, such as mortars or plasters. Among other results, the NeumaticOut project has made it possible to identify more than 60 sites in the Natura Network that have this type of waste.
