Buenas prácticas de sostenibilidad social y ambiental de la AEPD

Habida cuenta de que el ejercicio de sus funciones induce que la actividad de la Agencia Española de Protección de Datos se despliegue en un número cada vez mayor y más diversificado de esferas, la Agencia se ha sensibilizado gradualmente en torno a la conveniencia de elaborar sistemáticamente un conjunto de actuaciones de Responsabilidad Social, así como la de dotarse de mecanismos formalizados de seguimiento y control de dichas actuaciones.

En línea con dichos compromisos, la AEPD ha realizado durante el año 2019 un conjunto de buenas prácticas que aspiran a prolongar los esfuerzos previos de la AEPD y a transitar nuevas vías de compromiso con los objetivos de sostenibilidad social y ambiental que fundamentan su actividad de Responsabilidad Social.

Entre las diversas buenas prácticas desarrolladas, merecen mención especial las dirigidas a fomentar el uso responsable de internet por parte de los menores, a proporcionar a los ciudadanos guías orientativas y consejos de actuación en materia de protección de datos, y las destinadas a reforzar la protección de las víctimas de violencia de género.

Given that the fulfilment of its administrative functions prompts the Spanish Agency for the Protection of Data (AEPD) to expand its area of action to ever more social spheres, the Agency has embarked upon a gradual process of awareness concerning its Social Responsibility. Thus, it has decided to carry out a systematic set of action in this regard, and has set up several formalized mechanisms in order to monitor and control them.

In this vein, the AEPD has adhered to a set of best practices during 2019. These actions aim to carry on with previous efforts and to assume new engagements in line with the goals of social and environmental responsibility that lie in the basis of the Social Responsibility assumed by the Agency.

Among these best practices, there are some that stand out due to their particular significance: this is the case of the promotion of a responsible use of the internet by children and youth; the provision of guides and counsel to citizens concerning the protection of their personal data; and a set of measures that aimed to strengthen the protection of the victims of gender-based violence.
